Rue de Bretonvilliers bears the name of Claude Le Ragois de Bretonvilliers, owner of the land on which it was opened. This street has the particularity of having a porch at one end which allows it to communicate with rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Île. This porch was the pavilion of the Hôtel de Bretonvilliers.
