Paris 3rd district - The Verbois tower and fountain

Originally outside the city, the Saint Martin des Champs priory was protected by a fortified enclosure dating back to the 12th century. The Tour du Vert Bois was a corner tower to the northeast. It was given to the city of Paris by the monks of Saint Martin to allow the construction of a fountain in 1712.
