La Couture Saint-Gervais (couture here being synonymous with culture) is a micro-district to the east of the Marais built at the beginning of the 17th century by subdividing agricultural land (vegetable gardens), from the domain of the Saint-Gervais Hospitaller nuns. The Hôtel Salé houses the Pablo Picasso museum.
